Get a Rad Star Wars Lunch Box and Save $2,405.76 Yearly!

September 4, 2012|By David Lester

Hi Everyone,

This is my gnarly Star Wars lunch box that I just got.  Now that I’m going to brown bag my lunch to work everyday why not make it an amazing experience.  Instead of feeling sheepish about bringing my lunch in an old plastic Bi-way bag I’m going to work it with a killer lunch box. Plus, my cucumber sandwiches now come in the shapes of Tie Fighters and the Millennium Falcon.  Yeah, that’s right.

This is how you go from brown bagging it to fierce boxing it:

Firstly, find an awesome lunch box that will get you excited to pack every night before work.  Make sure that it will cause some conversation and get you noticed – I settled on Star Wars but the Muppets and Strawberry Shortcake were close seconds! Your ability to stand out among your work mates and also reveal your true creative abilities will probably also get you promoted.  Win win.

Secondly, calculate how much a healthy and delicious lunch will cost each week.  I like marble rye, pumpernickel, real turkey hot peppers and cucumber sandwiches with hot sauce.  Yum.  Calculate how much it will be to buy enough for the week = $9.88 for me.

Now figure how much you pay on lunches now.  I use Mint.com so I can tell I spend an average of $12 a day on lunches.  Now I take my new budget of $9.88 and deduct it from my old $60 a week budget which leaves me a saving of $50.12 a week.  Times the $50.12 by 48 weeks (52 minus four weeks of vacation and some lunches out) = $2,405.76!  Holy Yoda!

Bum Bonus!  Now, calculate how many calories I’ll be saving.  A delicious Turkey on pumpernickel with some baby carrots will save me 200 calories vs. my favourite Teriyaki rice and chicken stir fry bowl in the food court.  That’s over 750 calories a week that will stay off my junk.

Now that is a win win scenario if I’ve ever heard it.  I’ll have saved $2,400 dollars to go on a vacation each year and have shaved 750 calories to look ah-mazing in my man-kini on the beach.  Plus I’ll have sported my amazing Star Wars lunch box everyday, making it all worth while.

Make “brown bagging it” hipster chic and save,

Dave
